Anyway I don't concur that music discovers its definitive style in Romanticism. Numerous arrangers, when the Romanticism development, can inspire feeling too. The Romantic style opened the entryways for a more extensive range of passionate music. It broke the principles of music of the time, permitting authors and artists to communicate straightforwardly. I do regard the Romantic style for that. While I have my top picks, I would not put one music style over another. This incorporates the Romanticism period also. Sentimentalism permitted the author or craftsman the opportunity to communicate their feelings. Rather than attempting to satisfy the crowd, the craftsman composed and played music for themselves. Lee Marshall clarifies: The main fitting appointed authority of the work turns into the specialists himself on the grounds that solitary the craftsman knows whether the work is valid and the crowd can just submit to Romanticism’s ‘first law [which] is the desire of the creator.’ (33) The craftsman empties themselves into a bit of work, which thusly permits the crowd to feel the artist’s feeling all the more unmistakably. A model would be Shubert’s â€Å"Death and a Maiden†. This bit of music relates how Shubert feels about his approaching demise.

Industrialization in Great Britain A New Era - 951 Words

An era of new beginnings was created when industrialization swept through Great Britain starting in the 1760’s. This vast transition included a change in hand production to machine production, brand new chemical and iron production processes, an improvement in water power, major increases in the use of steam power, the development of machine tools, and the conversion towards coal as the major source of fuel. Not only was â€Å"he Industrial Revolution an evolving transformation in many sectors of the economy† (Atkins 1), but across the board, aspects of daily life were changed by the Industrial Revolution, and it led to not only economic prosperity, but radical social changes and increased political stratification. The Industrial Revolution†¦show more content†¦And finally, there was the Ten Hours Bill of 1847, which limited the working hours to 10 per day for women and children. (Tuttle 12). All of these changes impacted how factories were run, and improved th e lives of the factory working families. Also, the Industrial Revolution led to the beginnings of organized labor groups, and the creation of the first trade unions, in order to help advance the interests of working people. The power within a union could demand better terms by withdrawing all labor and causing a consequent cessation of production. This ability meant that the normal working man or woman had the ability to combine forces with their fellow workers to fight back against the much more wealthy and powerful factory owners. Working people also formed friendly societies and co-operative societies as support groups against times of economic hardships. These conjoined forces gave immense power to workers, through the ability to strike, although there were many legal attempts to stop these insurrections. With laws passed to limit the power of the unions, its showed a rise against the power of the middle class. Finally, the Industrial Revolution effect the political stratificati on of Great Britain during this era. The creation of the House of Lords and House of Commons was before the Industrial Revolution, however with the evolution of the working class due to technological advancements gave the House of Commons more power. Comparison of the Vision or Mission Samples †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Comparison of the Vision or Mission. Answer: Comparison of the vision or mission statement According to the mission, statement Aristocrat envisages to establish a sustainable value for all of its stakeholders. It aims to achieve this mission by the provision of entertaining and innovative gaming solutions to all its customers present across the globe. On the other hand, the mission statements of Fortescue are observed to be objectifying to be the safest, lowest cost and most profitable producer of iron ore in the world. It could be observed that the statements of the mission of both the countries are very contradictory by nature. Aristocrat being a gaming company appears to have an in-depth understanding of what the customers want in the gaming industry and thus, has specific objectives to provide best services its customers by being specific in its technical aspects (Anderson et al., 2015). This company happens to be purely oriented to provide effective services to its customers through its measurable strategies regarding the operation of the gaming technology. Its busine ss operations get reflected from the mission statement of the company; to provide good quality entertaining and innovative solutions to all its customers throughout the world which is very much achievable. Therefore, it can be stated that for establishing a sustainable value to its stakeholders, the company's very much oriented to provide best service to its customers rather than only directing its business towards achieving profit. In the case of Fortescue, it can be observed that the company is very much oriented in obtaining profit from all its business ventures and operation which is not necessarily a negative aspect (Bichet, 2014). The company is also assisting in building a sustainable approach to the extraction of the iron ore through safest and lowest cost means which I relevant from the mission statement of the company. The company is oriented in extracting best outcomes and efforts from the human resources it has for ensuring and maintaining its unique environment and cult ure in resonance with the vision of the company. From this aspect it can be said that Fortescue is much more oriented in making the human resources which is basically the people involved in the business operations of the company, to give their best output in terms of work in their respected fields (Christopher, Laasch Roberts, 2016). Along with providing a sustainable approach to the business operations in the extraction of iron ore, the company is basically looking forward in retrieving the best of everything. The approach of the company is realistic as for an iron ore Extraction Company, the aspect of profitability is a must for the business organization to succeed and sustain in the global market. Being a heavy industry, employing huge labor is mandatory and getting best efforts from them is also realistic. However, the mission approach of the company is more centralized towards itself and not just rendering service back to the society. Comparison of values of the companies Aristocrat happens to value the courage, respect, passion, and integrity of the people along with the talent of the people, creative excellence and advanced technologies which help the company in delivering the best experience of gaming. Aristocrat values these qualities and aspects to the core which makes the company be successful in providing high-quality services to its customers along with supporting the business, people and the communities it is involved in. It can be observed that the values of the company are basically human values oriented which encourage people to get included in its business operations. This provides an amicable feeling and experience to the customers; human resource and stakeholders involve d with the company. On the other hand, the values of Fortescue revolve around the organizational culture that assists the company in taking actions and achieving success (Chance Brooks, 2015). The values of the companies very centralized towards itself, the way it cons iders its human resource as its family and community reflects that the values of the compound are very much oriented in concentrating on itself other than thinking beyond it. This is definitely a time-saving approach that is facilitating the company simply to focus on its operations and success. However, it does not provide any space for the admiration and contribution to the society in general. Corporate Social Responsibility/Sustainability The focus on the corporate social responsibility or sustainable development is vital for every business organization since it contributes to the overall sustainable growth and development of a business entity and it ensures that all the business stakeholders enjoy various social, economic and environmental utility. The Aristocrat Leisure Limited takes necessary steps to support the surrounding community by doing charity work that reflects its business value. All of its 3,200 employees are motivated to contribute in the fundraising activities so that the local community gets benefit from such events. It organises Global Volunteer Week which unites all of its employees to volunteer their skills, effort and time to bring about a positive change in the society. Its strong commitment towards the sustainability performance is also reflected in its socially responsible and ethical approach towards the business processes. It takes part in various energy efficient programs, recycling initiati ves, and proactive models in order to save natural energy and water. It makes investments in the technological aspects so that a responsible gaming system is developed (Glaeser, Stachel Odehnal, 2016). The Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. is another Australian company that takes its corporate social responsibility very seriously. Its commitment towards a sustainable performance is reflected in its focus on promoting a diverse workplace and addressing the various environmental challenges that exist in the current times. It wants to bring about a major change for the Aboriginal population that reside in the Pilbara region (Pettinger, 2013). This aspect of its CRR activity is different from that of Aristocrat firm since the latter focuses on the community around which it operates. The iron ore producer takes part in different volunteer initiatives to promote the highest standards of sustainability performance and it has also joined hands with United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) so that it can make a change in the society. Stakeholders The stakeholders of a business concern form an integral part of the organization since they help in the very existence of the entity. The stakeholders include different parties such as investors, customers, community, employees, government, etc. The Aristocrat Leisure Limited gives due importance to its stakeholders by making an attempt to design the best gaming technologies so that it does not have negative impact on any of them. The business through four different segments including America, Australia and New Zealand, Digital and International Class III and it has been designed in such a way so that it can focus on its stakeholders from different corners of the globe. It focuses on the development and designing aspects of its offerings so that its customers, partners, employees enjoy the simple gaming solutions. The Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. Concern believes in establishing a solid long standing bond with its various stakeholders that exist in the market environment including the customers, government, investors, etc. It values its strong relationship with its key stakeholders and believed in working together so that the operations are managed in a positive manner (Peterson, 2015). Just like its sustainability approach that focuses on the Aboriginal population, the firm places them in a central position of its stakeholder list so that the best opportunities are created for them. The entity believes that with the help of its stakeholders it can contribute to build better communities, protect the surrounding environment and make the Australian economy more robust and healthy. Conclusion The vision and/ or mission statement, values, sustainable approach and stakeholders form an integral part of any business organization that operates in the industry. All these aspects basically help a concern to follow the set framework so that its ultimate objective is achieved in the best way possible. The vision helps it to understand its ultimate objective that it wishes to achieve throughout its existence. The mission statement is created which focuses on the short-term approach that is adopted by the business concern to meet its goal. The corporate social framework acts as a guideline and helps the entity to run its business in the most efficient manner by taking into consideration its economic, social, environmental responsibilities. The organizational stakeholders are the most important segment since they together make up the business concern and help it to have a sustainability growth and development in the uncertain business environment. Thesemanagement aspects of two vital Australian business companies namely Aristocrat Leisure Limited and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. have been reflected here in a simple manner so that their approach towards these managerial activities can be identified and understood in an effective manner. Due to the many subdivisions of the Company, there is also the difficulty in the control of L’Oreal. This slows down the production of the Company because of the need of giving reference to the other Board members and directors of the Company. Another weakness that L’Oreal faces is their profit. The profit margin of L’Oreal is comparably low than that of the other smaller rivals. While L’Oreal projects certain rise in digits as their profit, the result does not usually meet the expectations (Sang, 2003). Perhaps, this is also due to the high-end advertising and marketing as well as the width of the Company. Finally, the coordination and the control of the activities and image in the worldwide market are also viewed as a weakness in the part of L’Oreal. B. External Analysis 3) Opportunities The L’Oreal Company concentrates on cosmetic products that enhance women of all ages. The growing demand for beauty products gives L’Oreal the opportunity to focus in their field of specialization, particularly on hair styling and color, skincare, cosmetics and perfumeries. Being the leading cosmetic brand gives them the edge for their well-known image. Opportunity also emanates from their growing market that ranges from the affluent, the aging and also the masses of the developed countries. Another opportunity that L’Oreal must take advantage of is their greater market share because of the numerous patents registered by the Company. 4) Threats A threat to the L’Oreal group is also the growing competition within the field of cosmetic brands. Due to the ongoing addition to the field of cosmetics, there is still the danger that other brands could surpass the profit of L’Oreal. Another threat to the Company is the economic downturn that is quite evident in other countries. Such could thus hurt the possibility of higher profit for the company. Most products of L’Oreal are within the reach of the citizens of developed countries, but L’Oreal may have problems reaching out even to the average people from the underdeveloped countries. Also a threat to the L’Oreal Group is the spending habits of consumer and the economic crunch that most countries are experiencing as of present. While the L’Oreal Group may be producing the best of its line, people may find that their products are not of their basic needs and would skip buying L’Oreal products. (Source: LOREAL, 2008)

Minimum Wage Employees

A minimum wage is the lowest form of compensation that employees may receive, be it hourly, daily or in a monthly form. On other terms, it may also be defined as the lowest wage that an employee may peddle his/her labor. Despite the minimal wages law exhibiting great jurisdictions, most opinion makers’ epic large proportions of differences in terms of the pros and the cons that the said minimal wages exhibit.Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Minimum Wage Employees specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Some of the pros brought forth about the minimal wages include the opinion that with the existence of minimum wages, the standards of living are bound to improve immensely with some quarters, confessing of a reduction in poverty while others saying that the business has become more and more efficient. The cons that have been associated with the minimum wages include the increase in the rate of unemployme nt and the low productivity among some workers due to the inexperience among some workers hence benefiting the more skilled workers over the lesser skilled ones. Economists differ on the presumed impact of minimum wages in the real world. The distress usually comes as a result of competing and comparing the empirical tests of demand and supply and the degree of efficiency in the labor markets that models most efficiently predict competition (Letcher 31). Some of the empirical studies that have been studied about these minimal wages include among others the effects on the employment sector which until now stands as the most studied aspect. Rates of the minimal wages vary widely across different scopes around the world, not only in a specific monetary rate for instance the difference in the monetary rates in the United States and the United Kingdom, where it is $8.67 in Washington in the United States and 6.08 pounds in the United Kingdom for those that are over the age of 21, but als o the period in which the rates are paid greatly differs (Blackman 93). It is explicitly hard to disintegrate the minimal wage facts from other variables that may have any considerable effects on employment. There are some thought out facts that try to argue in favor of the minimum wages, some of the in scripted pros include the belief that even the standards of living of the most vulnerable class in the most ravaged societies greatly increases. Another advantage depicted is that it encourages the workers to work harder and motivates them more (Carmen 89). It is good to know that with each passing day people try to get money legally due to their work but not in any way that is out of the law. It also encourages automation and efficiency is also encouraged more in the industry. Some researchers are also of the opinion that the low paying jobs are scrapped and in this regard more and more people are forced to work harder and earn payments from the highest earning jobs. Some researcher s who are for these minimum wages epic that there is increased developments in the technological departments.Advertising Looking for critical writing on labor law? Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More On the other hand the criticizers of this law epic that it tends to hurt the small business and alternatively favoring the larger ones. These criticizers continue to epic that the minimum wage tends to reduce the demand expected of workers where they argue that this is greatly caused by the reduction in the number of the jobs and also, by the reduction in the number of hours. The inflation in terms of price also tends to increase as the prices of goods are raised by the respective business while trying to compensate. They also argue that the poorest and less productive workers are left out in favor of others. The researchers also argue that small salaries can easily result in the reduction of the working places. They continue to argue further that the smallest firms with payroll budgets that are limited find it extremely hard to retain their most valuable workers, since they are unable to give them considerable attractive wages as compared to the unskilled workers, who are paid the artificial high minimum and so the task of adding more workers become great. These cons have also rendered it ineffective when trying to reduce poverty and also more damaging to business than other methods. It has also been proved that it discourages further education since most people are lured into the job market. Finally, it exudes the con of wiping off the low cost competitors from the markets and impedes the different organizations from reducing the costs of the wages during trade recessions, which augurs into inefficiencies in the economic sectors of the various industries (Lewinsky 11). Despite the cons that have been put across by various researchers, proof across various sections in the world Diaspora has only explicated imme nse pros brought forth by these minimal wages. One example that clearly demonstrates this is a study carried out in the US that showed that the payrolls and the rank of the working places increase with each passing year thanks to the minimum wages (Lewinsky 11). Another example is the introduction of the minimal wage in the United Kingdom in 1999, where it was initially strongly opposed by the conservative party but it is no longer opposed and the conservatives even reversed their stand in the year 2000 after it reduced the hiring rates. It also reduced the working hours and the prices have increased greatly coupled by the increase in the production of the current workers. This research paper will look in a great perspective on the different minimum wages that have been put in different states (cities) of the United States of America. In addition, the employees that receive a certain part of their salaries from tips are expected to have their whole compensation including tips meet those minimum wages. So on often basis, their hourly wages before tips is occasionally lesser than the minimum wages (Willis 75). Moreover, some cities within states may experience higher minimum wages that the rest of the cities. The paper will look into seven different states namely, Washington, Texas, Ohio, New York, Kansas, Iowa, Cal ifornia. The first city that will give us a close overview of the different minimum wages in US is the city of Washington. The 2011 figures put the minimum wage as 8.67 US dollars. The minimum wage applies to both the agriculture and the jobs that are non-agriculture, but despite this the people that are 14 and 15 years in age may receive 85% of the minimum wage that is 7.37 in US dollars. Business Analysts have gone further to predict an impressive minimum wage of 9.04 US dollars by the beginning of the year 2012. The minimum wage of Texas is 7.25 similar to that of New York which also enjoys a minimum for relieved workers of 536.10 US dollars. The minimum wage of Ohio exceeds that of New York and Texas to post at 7.40 US dollars and researchers expect it to increase to 7.70 US dollars by the beginning of the year 2012. Employees who are 16 years old and where the employers gross is less than 237,000 US dollars per annum receive a minimum wage of 7.25 US dollars. For most years, th e minimum wage of Kansas was the lowest in the whole nation, a partly 2.65 US dollars but it has since been increased to meet the federal level and now stands high on 7.25 US dollars. The minimum wage of Iowa stands at the same level as that of Kansas. Service establishments and small retailers do not necessarily require to pay the minimum wage, mostly those that receive less than 300,000 annually (Willis 75). Sometimes, 60% of the minimum wage which is presently about 4.35 US dollars is given to tipped workers. The last of the sample states is California with a minimum wage of 8.00 US dollars and San Francisco city which receives a considerably high minimum wage of 9.92 US dollars. The minimum wage decree in this state and city states that relieved workers must at least make twice the minimum wage of the state.Advertising Looking for critical writing on labor law? media essay

media essay media essay Spiros Souliotis The media of the modern world which includes newspapers, radio, television and the internet, has the ability to not only influence the effects of disaster, but to greatly mitigate them. Media itself is responsible for presenting information to the public while also respecting victims. In this respect, the media is a failure, as its disregard for the victims’ rights or privacy is becoming increasingly prevalent therefore, preventing it from influencing the effects of disasters in a positive way. A tragic event that stirred the nation and was considered one of the media’s failures to influence the effects of a disaster, was the Columbine High School shooting. The media covered the event, but did not do so objectively. Failing to realize the â€Å"big picture† and focusing on one â€Å"little corner of the picture† the event was reported inadequately and truly unfaithfully. Furthermore, Anup Shah highlights how the media should be carrying ou t its public service by making informed reports. â€Å"Instead of inadequate and sensationalist coverage such as the Columbine School shooting, the media should be striving for the objective and complete coverage it pretends to present.† It quickly becomes apparent that the media is developing a terrible notoriety when it comes to reporting on disastrous events. In the â€Å"Privacy Piercers† by Robert Lissit, the media is accused of doing nothing to aid disaster vitcims but instead seeks to siphon any and all information out of an individual or hroup before its competitors do. Therefore, the quality and credibility of the reports deteriorate, and victims of a disaster are treated with minimal respect. Taking the victims of the Pan Am 103 flight crash and the residents of Lockerbie, Scotland as an example, the event caused the friends and families of the victims to be subjected to a â€Å"media melee† and â€Å"intrusive reporting.† The crudeness and bord erline criminality of the media can also be traced back to Hurricane Katrina where the overindulgence of reporting caused the public to become unsympathetic to the relief effort, thus causing more harm than good. The media does not always

Psychology - Essay Example I begin to focus all of my attention on this tooth, wiggling it more and more. The tooth does not hurt when I wiggle it, but I am sure that if I can just work the tooth loose, I will be able to get relief from the oppressive feelings I am having. Finally, the tooth pulls free and I have an instant feeling of relief. I feel so good to have that loose tooth out of my head! But almost immediately, I feel as though I need to check again for another loose tooth so that I can increase my amount of relief. I have had this dream several times over the course of my life. Some times, I have followed this process to remove as many as three teeth from my head before the dream ends. I really am not sure about what to make of this dream. I think I have connected it to concerns about my personal safety. I have always had this dream when I have been living in dangerous neighborhoods or under dangerous circumstances. I think that part of me is concerned about my safety and so I need to do something extraordinary in order to ensure my safety. But why pulling my own teeth? How is that going to make me safer? I know that it is irrational, but my teeth are something I have great pride in. They are the one part of my body that is flawless. I have never had braces or a cavity. I don’t need to whiten or treat them in any way other than basic hygiene. I believe that my dream represents my willingness to do anything to stay safe when I am in difficult or dangerous circumstances. That includes making great personal sacrifices for my own safety and I hope, the safety of those that I love. This dream is a highly visual dream. I often only have dreams about feelings, but in this dream the colors were vivid. I am in a lush forest. The trees and grasses are all the deepest shades of green. It is not lush in a tropical sense, but more in a fairytale sense. There are bugs and all manner

Public and Private Behavioral Health Services Coursework

Public and Private Behavioral Health Services - Coursework Example People suffering from mental disorder need much attention, supervision, and specialized care (Ince, 2010). When people with sufficient financial resources suffer from mental illness, they get people or institutions that can take good care of their psychiatric needs. On the other hand, when those without sufficient financial resources fall to this illness most of their time is spent at home with little care and most of the times they stray in the public because of the mental disturbances. Private and public behavior health service providers are classically in the same business but with very different objectives and philosophy of work. The difference being due to the nature of the condition as described above, the demands that associated with it and the effects of the condition (In, 2014). Public facilities goals are to have people suffering from this disorder committed to getting help, but most importantly to ensure that they do not end up harming themselves or others in the public places since they may not have people to watch over them all round the clock. Private institutions on the other end have a mission to offer fulltime care and their time on behalf of the patient’s families, who would otherwise have to spend their time taking care of the patients (Freeth, 2007). These fundamental differences between these patients social and economic status, have created the two institutions. This explains why the public behavioral health service facilities lag behind the private institutions in provision of care for mental disorders. The private institutions are in existence to fill a want, whose willingness and ability to pay prevails, while the public behavior health services providers simply exist to contain a menace of mentally disturbed individuals causing harm or offensiveness to the public. According to McNeese-Smith (2003), the general

Uniformitarianism & Catastrophism Essay Example for Free

Uniformitarianism Catastrophism Essay Catastrophism refers to the idea that the features on the surface of the earth have been formed by natural disasters that occurred in the past. Contrary to this, uniformitarianism explains how geological processes taking place today in like ways, explain all geological processes on the earth, hence today‘s activities determine yesterday’s activities. It overlooks any chances of past occurrences impacting on the earth surface. Catastrophism seems to have tangible, empirical evidence in which case the sedimentary layers of fossils and rocks piling on the earth surface tend to suggest past activities. Also, eruption of mountains such as Mt. St. Helens (1980) presently supports the catastrophic notion. The issue of rock record entails an area going through change as a result of geologic processes where original rocks transform physically as well as chemically before the rocks are laid down. Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980 and according to the uniformitarianism view; such eruptions are as a result of rock transformation activities within the earth crust or due to water contained within the rocks, changing course. Also, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake which took life of more than eighty thousand citizens is thought to be as a result of rocks in the earth crust and the mantle sedimenting after long periods of activities in the past. The Indian Ocean tsunami which occurred in 2004 is attributable to rocks in the ocean undergoing physical as well chemical changes hence in the process; the surface of the ocean experienced the forces, in form of huge, powerful waves (Craig, 1983). Essay --

Childhood Obesity In The United States Childhood obesity is definitely a problem today because of the shocking levels that it has reached up to in the past couple of years. Genetics and the change of lifestyle and culture created children who are less healthy than people were in the last 20 years. Obesity is the result of these changes. There is a difference between being overweight and being obese. Being overweight means a person’s weight is high in comparison to other people who are the same height. This does not have anything to do with one’s level of body fat. For example, someone could be heavier because he or she has a lot of muscle mass. â€Å"† (Roth). Obesity is when a person has a very high amount of body fat in comparison to his or her lean body mass. Obesity in America increased by eleven percent between 1991 and 2003. A different study showed a comparison between 1988-1994 to 1999- 2000. The percent comparing these two periods of overweight kids increased an average of 4.1 percent for tho se between the age of two and nineteen. Recent research is doing a good job so far by the real reasons of obese children. Scientists are doing this by looking closely at nutrition and genetics. A high glycemic index comes from simple carbohydrates. For the body to digest these simple carbs it must produce lots of insulin, which lowers one’s blood sugar and makes them feel hungry. Carbs that are Complex have a lower glycemic index and do not need as much insulin to digest, making one’s blood sugar not as low. This means people do not feel as hungry as soon after eating these foods. One experiment showed children who ate foods with a low glycemic index for breakfast were not as hungry at lunch resulting in the child eating less food. Childr... ...tion classes because of problems with money. They use the money on other academic classes. Another factor that contributes to childhood obesity is that more parents are working late, which leads to fewer family meals. This results in ordering more food from restaurants, which is usually higher in fat content. Another environmental factor is that in major cities, there is less room for children to play. Some parents are able to send their children to after-school gyms and activities, but those cost money and require transportation. These are two things that not all parents have. This problem is conflict theory. In conclusion, children are getting fatter everyday. However, scientist and researchers are finding many ways to get rid of this problem. They have done a good job so far and eventually most people will be aware the importance of a healthy diet and exercise.

Historical Inquiries Group Essay

By the 1870’s, Europe was forever changed by the formation of Italy and Germany as new nation-states. Through this formation, Europe was shaken by the alteration in the balance of power. In Germany’s case, its unification was created through the leadership of Prussia, attempting to make a strong ethnic nation that could defeat Austria. Italy’s unification was made possible by the initial intentions of Sardinia. Europe witnessed how drastically the balance of power was shifted during World War I, when Germany and Italy proved they had both grown into powerful nation-states. The creation of the nation-states of Italy and Germany was a key point in the history of Europe that changed that balance of power in Europe. There are several factors that lead to the unification of Germany. For example, the introduction of new nationalistic ideas during the Enlightenment, caused for such events like the Carlsbad Decrees, which were German youth movements that spread national and liberalistic ideologies. These movements, however, were not too successful and eventually suppressed underground. The greatest factor that leads to the unification of Germany was most likely through Prussia under the control of Otto von Bismarck, who led Prussia to become the unifying power. The Danish-Prussian war in 1864 was the first step for Prussia, in which Prussia gained Schleswig, and Austria, which had an alliance with Prussia at the time, gained Holstein. Due to Holstein geographical isolation from Austria, it created tensions between Prussia and Austria, and lead to the Austro-Prussian war. The results of the war ended up with Austria being defeated, and Prussia gaining Holstein. The Franco-Prussian war in 1870 lead to the Treaty of Frankfurt, allowing Prussia to gain Alsace and Lorraine from France; the loss of Alsace and Lorraine later becomes a reasons for tensions between France and Germany.

Queen Henry Viii s Second Wife - 1825 Words

Elizabeth I was born on Sunday, September 7, 1533; her father was King Henry VIII of England and her mother was the very infamous Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife (Starkey 1). King Henry VIII was disappointed with Elizabeth’s gender, he was hoping for son and not another daughter and Henry’s astrologers and doctors predicted that Anne Boleyn would give birth a son (Starkey 4). Boleyn was executed for being a whore when Elizabeth was only 2-3 years old (Starkey 22). Despite this trauma, Elizabeth seems to have covered up memories of late mother and her main objective was to please her father and gain back her title. When Elizabeth was stripped of royal title, she sent to a different estate to live with her governess, Lady Bryan because†¦show more content†¦But then as the years went on, Mary I started to like Elizabeth and they would even exchange gifts and do favors for each other’s servants (Starkey 25). Mary I was a devout Catholic while El izabeth I and Edward VI (son of Jane Seymour) were Protestant. Elizabeth I and Edward VI got along much better. She would help Edward VI with his studying especially with learning different dialects. Elizabeth I helped him with studies and her education thrived with the help of Edward’s tutors. Elizabeth I had a total of four stepmothers. Jane Seymour was the first and probably King Henry VIII’s favorite due to her pious and kind spirit and the fact that she produced the son that he craved. But unfortunately, Jane Seymour died during childbirth and this was devastating news to not only to King Henry VIII but to the rest of the English court as well. After months of grieving Elizabeth’s father remarried to Anne of Cleves but her marriage to King Henry VIII was cancelled in less than a year. Even though numerous films and TV shows have depicted Anne of Cleves and Lady Elizabeth I as good friends, there is not one record of the Lady Elizabeth I actually meeting Anne of Cleves, let alone having a relationship with her (Starkey 28). Then came Catherine Howard, the youngest of King Henry VIII’s six wives. Catherine would often give little trinkets to Elizabeth I like beads and necklaces to the young lady (Starkey 28). The first three stepmothers didn’t
